    Netball tournament over
    So.. very.. tired..

    We didn't win the cup, but we did win the plate. We are officially the best runners up ever. :-)

    You know, I think that is the first time a sporting team with me on has won ANYTHING! :-D

    This afternoon at 2, I have an interview. This interview is determine whether I get one of three roles in the team in which I am currently on assignment.

    One role is permanent, one role is until December, and one role is until September. If I get either of the assignment extensions, there is a medium to good chance that I will be able to get another extension, or find a permanent slot in the team before the end of the assignment - and if it ends, I will be able to go back to my substantive post in the Facilities team.

    Competition is stiff, as the three candidates are all from our team. I am, fairly obviously, shooting for the permanent role.

    I am a good choice for this role.

    I am reliable, and comitted.

    I have had interview experience with this panel before, and I'm ready for their interview style.

    I am calm and collected.

    I am prepared, and confident.

    I am not fooling anyone....

    Joking aside, I'm feeling positive and upbeat about this interview, at the same time as nervous and nauseous, which is a VERY wierd combination.

    Just don't let me lose my voice out of nerves this time around, and I should be fine.

    I'm actually rather liking the new series of Doctor Who. I like Donna as a companion now that they've toned her down from the bawling hysteria of Runaway Bride - and it's nice to see a companion with a touch of maturity. I was particularly impressed with the storyline of last episode with Donna's influencing the Doctor (or trying..) to do the right thing. It's a subtly different feel to companions than has been shown so far.

    Go, Donna! You have at least one fan...

    I don't often indulge in overt religiousity on this journal, but I hope you'll pardon it this once. I've just got back from the Easter Vigil with my parents, and it was such a truly lovely service.

    I'm not going to make any claim to religious or moral superiority, and I hope you'll forgive me if this comes across as being lofty and arrogant, but I wish all of you a lovely and happy Easter, even if it doesn't mean that much to you.

    The answer to the entire film: JUST SHOOT THEM!

    Stop mucking about with taser poles and just use a f*cking gun!

    Gah.

    Fun film, but crazed rationales, complete lack of characterisation and a total lack of a story arc pretty much let it down. Still, well worth seeing though - the effects are cool, and some of the fight scenes are worth it.

    It's supposedly the first part of a trilogy - maybe when the trilogy is complete we'll actually have a full film. Either that or the second half of the movie teleported off to another cinema somewhere, and the audience from that version is left wondering about the total lack of a set up or premise for the film...

    So I had my first singing lesson tonight, in preparation for my sister's wedding in May. A lovely lady called Liz.

    I'd forgotten how much I love being able to just cut loose and sing properly. Liz was really complimentary about my voice (such as it is these days), and I'm bouncing.

    Going back next week - hurray! I really can't wait!

    Melancholy tonight. Wish I knew why my brain does this sometimes - it's apparent to everyone bar me that I'm mulling things over in a somewhat doleful fashion, and when they call me on it I can't even tell them what I'm thinking about.

    I blame lack of sleep. Unfortunately I can't blame anyone bar myself for the fact that I'm writing somewhat emu* LJ posts shortly before midnight instead of actually going to bed..

    No Lost for me
    I've abandoned my plan to go to Birmingham and Reading Lost, mainly because the amount of sleep I (haven't) had this past week has left me in a mainly tired and grouchy place. I had a moment of clarity this morning where I realised that I was getting wound up and grumbly at the idea of voluntarily going to Birmingham to play a game, and that this was pretty much Sparta madness.

    So, I'm staying at home, and probably wearing big fluffy jumpers and maybe curling up on the sofa with a bunch of DVDs or something.

    Some pampering is definitely needed for the time being.

    In other news... erm... stuff! More on this later.
